To achieve the project goals, I began by conducting extensive user research to better understand what users want and need from an esports betting platform. This information was used to structure the information architecture of the platform and design the front-end user interface. Working closely with our compliance and legal officers, I implemented strategy to meet UK and EU data laws, prevent problem gambling and comply with anti-money-laundering (AML) requirements. We also ensured the platform was scalable and could handle the rapid growth of esports betting.
As both the product lead and project manager, I was responsible for both the front and back end development teams. I led agile development sprints, with my role including scheduling, managing workload, budgeting, testing, and liaising with business prospects and investors.
Metabet was successfully launched and gained a license from the UK Gambling Commission, making it the first esports-focused sportsbook to achieve this milestone. The platform was well received by users, and the ease of use and rich features were highlighted by many as a significant advantage over it's competitors.
